1875 The first public office for seven districts in Tokachi is established in the Village of Moyoro.
1879 Kikuhei Takeda immigrates to the City of Toshibetsubuto begin cultivating land in the area one after another.
1880 A plague of locusts appears in Kasai and Nakagawa districts in Tokachi Subprefecture and hits all parts of Hokkaido.
1883 Banseisha Immigration Group settles in Oberiberi.
1892 Construction begins on Otsu Highway (from Otsu to Memuro) by 700 prisoners of the Kushiro Branch Prison.
1895 The Hokkaido Shujikan Tokachi Branch Prison opened (renamed Tokachi Prison in 1903).
1896 Liberalization of the Tokachi Colonization Plots increases the number of farmers, organizations and individuals that settle in the area.
1897 The public office for Kasai and six other districts becomes the Kasai Subprefectural Government.
1901 Three men, including Shigematsu Niitsu in Toshibetsu are elected to the first Hokkaido Assembly.
1905 The Kaisei Bridge is built between Obihiro and Otofuke as the first bridge linking the two towns (the forerunner of the Tokachi Bridge).
1905 The Kushiro Line (the present Nemuro Main Line) between Kushiro and Obihiro opened.
1907 With the Karikachi Tunnel completed, the Tokachi Line between Asahikawa and Obihiro opened.
1910 The Abashiri Line (the present Furusato Ginga Line) between Ikeda and Rikubetsu opened.
